You might think that Greek pizza originates from Greece, but this is not the case. Greek pizza is also an American style pizza, from New England. It was invented by Costas Kitsatis, a Greek from Albania, at his pizza restaurant. Greek pizza is proofed and cooked in a metal pan, instead of a pizza oven. The crust is usually a bit spongy and light, like focaccia, but less thick and a bit oily. The main ingredients are pizza dough, cheese and tomato sauce. You can use different toppings for your Greek style pizza, for example feta cheese, onion, olives and tomato.
